Many families are fracturing. Sometimes society seems to be fracturing too.
In Victoria, many types of crime are on the rise.
Horrific attacks are taking place.
Details of such crimes are almost daily fare.
There are firebombings and shoplifting is rife. There are attacks with machetes and even swords, sometimes in broad daylight.
Loneliness is a the scourge of modern life.
It is easy to create a list of problems with the world. But people still want hope and happiness. They want things to look forward to.
In politics, it is not enough to simply point out what is going wrong. Plenty is. But modern voters want to be offered something positive. That is why it is possible for shockingly bad governments to continue to win at the ballot box as long as they can also point towards something positive in the not-so-distant future.
Negativity is not enough. People need to be presented with positive options for the future. People are craving for positivity.
